These are COMPLETELY USELESS for studying for the Earth Science Regents. Each card has a general or vague subject on one side ("What is Science?) and a very dense paragraph of vague text on the back that manages to avoid ANY helpful material for the test. Seriously, these are such a ripoff that if I didn't know any better, I would think were purposely created as a scam.
Love the product- easy to carry around and study on the bus, in the car-etc. My son is an athlete and does a lot of studying on the go.

If you are just starting on Bright Line, this book is NOT for you. To be useful for someone who does not have the entire program memorized, the recipes need to be marked with BLE units such as “1 serving equals 6 oz. fruit, 8 oz. grain and 4 oz. protein.†Instead they are marked with the carbohydrates, sodium, etc. — and in grams, not ounces! There is no table of contents and no index. The recipes are not organized by type of dish — desserts are mixed in with the meat dishes, for example. I am not an expert, but I see some recipes contain items Susan Thompson’s book lists as not allowed on BLE, such as maple syrup. The book is self-published on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
I was really looking forward to receiving some "quick and easy" recipes that actually followed BLE principles. Instead, I found that many of the recipes included sugar, which really defeated the whole purpose for me! I wish I had known this before I purchased it!
I returned this for a refund, but it's now less than what I paid. This was a huge disappointment. Some of the recipes are not BLE compliant because they contain honey and jam. There are no photos and the text is large and spread out, filling the pages unnecessarily to make it look like there is more content. Save your money.
Not organized at all. No table of contents or index. The recipes aren't even alphabetical, nor are they individually formatted.No images. Some recipes contain things that are not part of the diet (taco shells). They are all basically lunch/dinner recipes. Not a single breakfast one as the cover suggests. Recipes range from 5-75 minutes.It's the size and quality of a coloring book.Honestly, I think the positive reviews are fakes.
Not worthy of 1 star. BLE is no sugar/no flour and this has recipes containing one or both.
The book is very short, about 30 recipes with some that include sugar and flour! Not following true Bright Line eating. No pictures and no recipes for breakfast even though the book cover shows a breakfast item. Very disappointed for the money spent, not a cookbook I will refer to very often. I could've gotten better recipes from a quick Pinterest search.
Once I got the book and started scanning some recipes, I realized quite a few do NOT follow the Bright Line Eating philosophy which includes NO SUGAR of any kind. There are recipes in this book that use granulated sugar, maple syrup, and honey, which are all not approved foods for Bright Line Eating. So, the title is very misleading and incorrect. Disappointing.

I lived in New York for over a decade and consider myself a food truck fan but hadn't even heard of many of the trucks profiled in New York A La Cart. This book is a fascinating look at the people behind many popular New York food trucks as well as their specialties and recipes. I made the Korean BBQ nachos from Kimchi Taco Truck and they were quite delicious (and easily tweaked). I love how varied the recipes here are, and the diverse New York stories. I no longer live in New York so I'm grateful for the chance to cook up some of these treats myself and have a list of trucks I want to try when I am back in town. From grilled cheese and ice cream to dosa and dumplings and much more, this is a fun cookbook/culinary tour of New York from some of its best food bloggers (Blondie and Brownie). Worth checking out whether you're near New York or not.
This book represents the essence of NY, I.e. it's people...the cuisine, especially "street" cuisine! You just simply can not visit NEW YORK without trying some deliciousness from a food trunk or street vendor.For me, touring/sightseeing, shopping & taking in a few Broadway plays is really great. But, the STREET FOOD is the rage! Yes, I love dining at fabulous NY restaurants, but when I see the vendors & food trucks...I KNOW my taste buds are in for a delightful experience for an AFFORDABLE price...the CREATIVE meals are going to sing its own PRAISE. I'm so elated this book was published...it's a WINNER. The recipes are DELICIOUS and the stories are very inspiring! I'm so glad I happened upon this treasure book for food trucks. ;-DI'm hoping that there will be MORE editions! My girlfriend would love to see PORTLAND & SEATTLE represented! :-D
Wow! I did not know about vending trucks at all. And the receipes, well I rather find the truck. But, it's good to have them! You'll ever race to get in the business or start eating all over and outside in New York. Terrific. I appreciate their struggle and gave the book to a grad foodie student. Being a cart vendor is not something to be sneezed at - many people have given up high-flying careers to hit the street and start selling food. Some of these interesting tales are served up from this very thick, richly-illustrated book. Good food, good stories - what else could you ask for?You can treat this book as a tourist guide too - the carts are listed by their geographic presence and even many of the outer boroughs are featured. As well as the detailed "per cart" listings, an overview by location and contact information is given at the end of the book, along with a sourcing guide, further reading suggestions and a detailed index.To this reviewer, this was a book that was so much more than just a listing of food carts. It was a series of 50 different mini stories, a range of cultural and sociological history, a snapshot of New York that perhaps not many native New Yorkers or tourists alike really get to share. One wonders how many locals really know the history of their local food carts, for example. The recipes are a bonus, but perhaps one has missed something if one has not been lucky enough to try the food direct from the cart and could savour up the atmosphere, its ambience and real aroma!. A recipe can be recreated, an atmosphere can not. That said, the recipes themselves are easy to follow, quite detailed despite the relative shortage of space and the all-critical assembly instructions should help you polish things up at the end. It would have been nice to have had an approximation of preparation and cooking times and more international measures, but these are minor niggles in the grand scheme of things.The book's design is relatively good and some very engaging photography has been employed, yet one just feels that something else could have been done. The book is very good as it is, yet it feels like just a dish when you know it is nice but a bit of seasoning with "something" would just make a great thing even greater, yet you are incapable of putting your finger on what that "something is". At first this reviewer was sceptical to the overall appeal of this book if you have no plans to be in New York, that uncertainty soon passed. If you like street food, like learning about food and maybe even recreating a bit of it at home, this book can still be a great little extra thing to consider!

The pictures are beautiful and reminds me of a fancy scrapbook. The lines are short and uncomplicated. This story kept my preschool class’s attention which is hard because they are one and two year olds. I like how this book is set in spring time but at the end of the book there is a visual of all four seasons so we could talk about what season we are in now and point out how the leaves are different
This book reads like poetry and is rich in vocabulary. It will make a wonderful book for my classroom this year. The artwork is insanely breathtaking. I really hope these two collaborate again. Even the pages which are not peek through look 3D.
This has quickly become one of my daughter’s favorite books. The illustrations and cutouts are quite beautiful. The text is a little awkward imo, but my daughter seems to love it. I am always grateful for children’s books with appealing, timeless illustrations.
I was amazed at the fine detail of the cut pages in this book. Along with the poetic words it's going to be enjoyed by the two little ones for whom it's intended.

I was diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes about 20 years ago. I thought I was smart about it and knew all I needed to know. But I didn't. Earlier this year, for the first time, I read Dr. Richard Bernstein's book, "The Diabetes Solution" (excellent!!) and realized how much I actually hadn't known. Then, in following him online, I came across Jenny Ruhl's book, "Blood Sugar 101: What They Don't Tell You About Diabetes." I became so riveted in that book that I bought an e-Reader so that I could keep reading it without being stuck in front of my desktop computer! Jenny is a regular gal (not a doctor) with Type-2 diabetes and her situation is very similar to mine and lots of us. But what Jenny did that the rest of us did not was to perform the nitty-gritty research on all of the details about this disease - and then she took the time to explain everything so that it's amazingly understandable. Jenny writes in a super-organized, logical flow. So many times, I'd read something and think, "yeah but then what happens?"...and the next paragraph answered my question! So even though I learned a lot from Dr. Bernstein's books, Jenny's book takes things to a different level and I learned so much more about my own condition. Type-2 is not Type-1 (duhh), so we have different experiences and different requirements. Speaking and explaining from her own situation (and other people she's spoken to for years) in such an organized manner made it so easy to understand and relate to my own situation.So, you ask, why am I going on about the other book? Well, the moment I finished "Diabetes 101", I immediately bought 'Your Diabetes Questions Answered." And everything I said about the first book, applies to this book - and even more so. Once you really have a good understanding of what your disease really is and how it works, THIS book is AMAZING at explaining to you how to LIVE WITH IT. Again, she organizes the questions (chapters) in such a logical thought-flow. Nothing is left unanswered. Everything she thought about while she was dealing with these issues, she must have written down and took notes. And then she took what she knew and wrote this book and organized the book in such a way that there is an incredibly logical flow from one question and answer to the next.I know so much more about type-2 diabetes and how to deal with it in the best way (for me) now, after reading this book, than I did a WEEK ago. And that's simply amazing. I now follow her Facebook page, I've bookmarked and follow her web site (diabetes101.com), and at this moment, I'm purchasing her other books (about low-carb diets, since I've already been on one but I KNOW she will teach me more about how to do it better). I'm so impressed and I'm so appreciative of the incredible service that Jenny has done for all of us with Type-2 Diabetes.(Thank you, Jenny, if you ever read these reviews!!)
I have followed Jenny Ruhl's advice on Facebook for a year and on her webpages for decades. I have her prior books, which are excellent. This one is longer and covers a broader range of subjects.Jenny Ruhl is always sensible. She is always clear. And, IMHO, her advice is always right.This book is a treasure!
After reading Jenny Ruhl's previous book, Blood Sugar 101, and seeing dramatic results in A1C, 7.4 to 5.8 in just 6 months, by putting into practice the tips therein, I decided to purchase this one. I haven't been able to spend much time yet on this one and already I've found a lot of things I never learned from my doctor.If you are struggling to understand more about what diabetes is doing to you and why, this book is for you. Buy it! If you don't have Blood Sugar 101, buy that one too. You won't regret either purchase.
This is another excellent Jenny Ruhl book. As the title says, she answers all the questions you might have, from diagnosis to various treatment options. If you've been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes you owe it to yourself to read this book before your next doctor's appointment. It's more than likely you will know more about dosing and drug side effects than he does, once you've read this. It's especially important because many of the latest diabetes drugs are accidents waiting to happen. I've already seen ambulance chasing lawyers advertising on TV for people who suffered severe side effects from Invokana. Invokana is just the first of a half-dozen similar drugs that just haven't been around long enough to hurt people yet. This book will arm you for a real discussion of what treatment options are safest.
I have also purchased the 101 book version. Dependent on your situation and cuurnt knowledge, etc. People will have different options. But the general experiences and view points is what helped. Especially the parts when dealing interacting with medical bureaucracy, etc. And the references to different issues coming for it. Along with having certain plans in place, etc. If anything, the book helped refine my strategy for dealing with future issues. - There was a little bit of male bashing going on. ..Lol, but over all. She provided a service and expertise in the book worth buying. And recommending. Especially if wet behind the ears on the subject. Hence credit where credit is do. But her books with Dr. Bernstein Diabetics Solution & other material seem to complement themselves. And helped me go from A1c of 6.3 to 5.7 in 6 months (and hopefully lower as time goes on). Anyway, that's all for the moment.
Living with type 2 diabetes can be discouraging and confusing. My doctors have been so used to diabetics who won't change their diets at all that they have no advice for those of us outliers who are willing to work hard and smart to stay healthy. Jenny Ruhl is a breath of fresh air! Solidly scientific, easy to read, and with a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of the subject, she imparts balanced, practical advice. I come back to her work when I need encouragement and clarity in dealing with either a specific problem, or general burn out in dealing with this chronic illness.
I am a newly diagnosed diabetic, have purchased 5 of Jenny Ruhl's books, and thank my lucky stars I found her. She is probably the worlds best authority on how to handle the disease.
