I am loving reading these wonderful books about ladies in the Bible written by Shirley Corder. Well researched and characters are well written. Makes me feel like I am there in the time with Naomi and her daughter in laws. Such love is shown to Naomi after losing her husband and then both sons. Shirley's writing lets you feel like you a part of a time in the past. I am looking forward to more from her.
This story of Naomi lets me get to know her as a person. I can now understand the customs of the Bible or of women at that time. It is nice to understand that Naomi thought about things we as women think about today when we make our own decisions in every day life. Ruth is unbelievable. I just love her. The book of Ruth in the Bible and this story are so close together that it is stunning! God always has the finally say so, even in this story. It is a good read.
This is a very well written book. I really like how she put questions at the end of each chapter. I can't wait to read more by this author.
Shirley Corder has a way of bringing people from the pages of the Bible right into my home. She makes me see things I never noticed before no matter how many times I've read it. The book may be named after Ruth, but Naomi was the one Ruth followed into a relationship with Yahweh. I loved getting to know the spunky older woman who left her homeland and returned with her daughter-in-law in tow.
Aarrhhgg! I was too slow, so I missed the freebie.But the Kindle price was well within my budget. So I purchased it and read it in one sitting. It is absolutely everything I thought it could be - well done. Very well done!!!Looking forward to the other ladies that Shirley brings Out of the Shadows. Can hardly wait to see who is next.
Just read the first three chapters of 'Naomi' a book by my friend Shirley Corder which is free on Amazon Kindle till I think the early hours of Sunday morning. Sassy humor and wise insights. Brings the story of Ruth and Naomi to the twenty first century. Entertainment of the top notch. Like the pause with a reflection and space for response at the end of each tightly written chapter. One to watch.

Roger Jennings is an author and consultant specializing in Windows database applications. He was a technical beta tester for all nine editions of Microsoft Access, SQL Server 6.5, 7.0, 2000, and 2005, every release of Visual Basic since version 2.0, as well as Windows 3.1 and all subsequent Microsoft Windows operating systems. He also was one of the founding members of Microsoft’s former Access Insiders group. Roger’s books have more than 1.25 million English copies in print and have been translated into more than 20 languages. He is the author of Que’s Special Edition Using Microsoft Access titles for Access versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 95, 97 (first and second editions), 2000, 2002, and 2003, and Platinum Edition Using Access 97. He also wrote Que’s Special Edition Using Windows NT Server 4, Special Edition Using Windows 2000 Server, Unveiling Windows 95, Access Hot Tips, and Discover Windows 3.1 Multimedia. For Pearson Education’s Sams imprint, he has written two editions of Access Developer’s Guide and three editions of Database Developers Guide with Visual Basic. I've used earlier editions of Jennings' Access Special Editions before and as usual find them packed with useful information and well structured for learning about the product. Sometimes I wish there was a manual that covered the top 25 things that most everyone needs to know to use Access in three chapters and a good index to find the details and in-depth usage in a separate 30 chapter section. This book has just gotten so very large that I can use it as a free weight instead of going to the gym. Seriously though, my main complaint, as in previous editions is the index. Individual commands are not listed or referenced as such, you have to know where they are used as a group and maybe then you can find them. I have to add a separate index of my own when I finally find what I'm looking for. (Try to find IIf sometime.)
I thought this book could help me to create a database from scratch and guide me in the process step by step, my mistake,The author ask you to open a finished database that is in the CD and explain you general things about it.In the first chapters the author talks about some advanced topics, like if you were already in the middle of the book, I really don't understand what the author was thinking in doing it this way,Don't buy this book if you expect a tutorial and don't have enough time (as most of people) to read a huge book, you will learn too little practical information.Please don't waste your money (as I did).
I have to assume this is a good book but I am not going to page through this book page by page to find material. The table of contents is not linked to the contents of the book. As a refernce book the user needs to be able to go to specific parts of the book in an efficient manner. This book does not allow it.
Really helped out when I was trying to learn the product. They explain the process to get what you'd like very in-depth.

Everything I needed was there. Completed an asset database that was nagging us for weeks. Even had new ideas for displaying form layouts.
I had the book for 2003 and used it till it fell apart, now that my work moved me to 2007 i got this book and like always they did a great job. I can find the information i need and just look through for things i didn't even know access 07 could do... if needing a access 07 book or any other, this company does a darn good job.

Pretty good book with lots of helpful information.
Loved it. I agree with everything Jennifer says about the expiry dates you see on products these days. How is it that a loaf of bread stays fresh for a month? I grew up in Australia and moved to the US. One thing I noticed growing up was the US trends seem to take ages to hit the stores, the fashion, the music, the gadgets. With food, nutrition and wellness, it was the other way around. I came to the States and was horrified at the food choices, the preservatives, artificial flavorings, and the amount of sickness that people had, yet they still ate so much gluten based product, coupled with sugar and preservatives and thought nothing of it, and most bread tasted awful with Vegemite. In Europe, Australia and most every other country, small and eclectic bakeries with gorgeous product is a huge money spinner. Why? Because it tastes great, it is better for you, and it's enjoyable. The US seems to take a while to catch up on healthy trends, this is one. It is coming, and when it does it will be huge. If you ever thought about opening a Bakery now is the time. Jennifer Holmes gives you an honest and easy to follow approach, she not only outlines the good points, she shows you the pitfalls. I highly recommend this read, and as a guide, her approach is not only valid for a bakery, it is valid for so many opportunities if you dare to dream them. Thank you.
I agree with the notion that bakery businesses are coming back again, I see new ones are coming up around town. This "Bakery Business Startup" book is a great reference book for anyone looking to get started on this path.
