Adorable. All the way through. I think other reviewers are reading too much into the whole "all the animals are male" thing. I have four girls and not one of them noticed or cared. It's not overly obvious and I'm. It buying them the book to promote feminism either.I bought these books along with the "home for a bunny" book to use as wall art for my fourth baby's nursery walls. I bought two of each book. One to use and read, and one to cut up to place into frames on the wall. These are super cute. My girls love to look at the pictures and point out each of the different types of animals. Everyone who sees their room thinks they are adorable decorations. Great value for the money. We love golden books!
I have treasured this book since I was a child and it has always been a part of my very fond memories. I was thrilled to see this book for sale after all these (40+?) years and I am so excited to be able to impart the innocent and meaningful life lessons that these timeless quality books have unto my grandchildren. I'm sure they will love this book as much as I did; and if not, I am glad to have it back just for a quick trip back to those good ole days, even if it's only for five minutes. I purchased this book as a used seventies edition and it looks like it's been loved and smells like a good book should. The condition was exactly as described and I would highly recommend this seller.

You really can't go wrong with Little Golden Books. I don't really remember this one as a child but I always buy our children these books around their birthdays, Christmas and for their Easter baskets.This is a really cute book just like other LG books and our children enjoy reading it.
Adorable. Sweet little illustrations about each creature. The Kiddo's favorite page is the giraffe, because even a baby giraffe is so tall he has to kind of smoosh down to fit on the page of a book!There is also a nice little story/nugget of information on each animal, so as they get older they still like to read the book because it is about behavior and they like to add more details!A classic Little Golden Book, always great value.
I really like this book. It teaches young children with my help to respect all creatures and important it is to always be kind to them.

This book is beautiful! It's full color heavy weight pages. The cover is embossed. Almost all of the white pages have a shimmery white jacquard design printed on them. It's awesome to look and and the information in the book in inspiring. If you love fonts and graphic arts you have to get this. I also love the books by Ivan Castro and Jessica Hische and love both of them.
Fantastic history of the hipsters behind the terrific House Industries graphic design firm. The content of the book is incredible, but of course the design is great as well. If you're a fan of their work, you'll love it. If you're a fan of typography and/or graphic design, you'll love it.
I've been interested in graphic design and typography for quite some time and I was excited to finally find a cool resource for some interesting style inspiration. This really is a beautiful book with retro embossed images that take up the full page. I showed it to a coworker on the graphic design team and she instantly bought it. Don't hesitate to purchase!

*Review posted on Mundie Moms Grown-Up Book Reviews on 4/20/2017*I adore Sophie Kinsella's stories as you already know, but for some reason, I hadn't read what is one of her highest rated stories until now. I know -- WHY WAS I WAITING? No idea, truly, except that I have that Busy Mama thing happening constantly in my life even as the mom of teens/tweens. So, I purchased the audiobook (aside: Sophie's audiobooks are so well produced!) and fell into a perfectly told story!I think I mentioned in my last review here that I've been in a book-slump-to-end-all-book-slumps this year. It seems nothing can hold my interest, except audiobooks. So on the heels of reading Sophie's My Not So Perfect Life, I immediately downloaded another of her books. Oh, Poppy was a delight. I could completely relate to her losing her engagement ring and picking up an abandoned cell phone. I locked myself out of my apartment two weeks in a row before my wedding. I totally remember the scatterbrained, overloaded moments. Poppy has some other complications, though. Like, is her fiancé truly the right guy for her? What about the phone's real owner, Sam?What ensues is a well-timed, well plotted, tension-filled romantic plot with so many giggle-filled moments. I've always loved a madcap, what-if story, and this one is extremely well executed. You will cheer for a certain thing to happen (not going to spoil it for you, but if you love your romances as much as I do, you already know what it is), and when it does, it's going to be sooooooo amazingly perfect.One of the things that I loved about this story (and also, My Not So Perfect Life) is how Sophie weaves in the side characters as well as family. I don't think there is another author in this genre who does it so seamlessly. I'm that reader who always wants to know a little bit more about the characters, and here we get just that.So as the weather warms up and your mind starts drifting towards summer and that inevitable beach/pool bag filled with romances, this is one that I would 5-star recommend. Don't do what I did and wait to read it!
So my books of choice tend to be cop and/or lawyer books where they’re trying to find and/or outwit a killer. After being on a role of reading some heavy duty material, I needed something lighter. Somehow I stumbled across this book on Amazon, and I’m so glad I did.This book reminds of something along the lines of The Holiday or The Wedding Planner, and it’s completely refreshing for anyone who’s a fan of rom-com’s and characters with hearts of gold. Poppy makes me think of a girl who would be played by Isla Fisher, Renee Zellweger, or Amy Adams. She is completely lovable. And while she has some truly cringe-worthy blunders, all’s well that ends well.Also, as a side note - I saw a review where someone mentioned not being able to read the footnotes on a Kindle. I read my books on my Kindle. All you need to do to see the footnotes in context is lightly press the number (don’t hold the number down like you would to see the dictionary or X-Ray).
I'm a long-time fan of Sophie Kinsella, having devoured all her previous novels. And, for some reason, it took me quite a long time to getting around to reading this. Needless to say, I was excited to dive in!I struggled quite a bit with this book. It felt too much like the Shopaholic Series. The humor was cute but didn’t provoke any actual laugh out loud moments. The first half of the book was hard for me to stick with. And by the halfway point, I wondered if I should just give up on it. My husband had just read it and told me to give it a little more of a chance.The second half of the book kept my interest piqued and I began to grow emotionally invested in the characters and their stories. There were a few twists and turns I didn’t expect, which was a nice surprise, as I thought I had pretty much figured out where everything was going. The ending was sweet, but, still, there was something missing from the overall feel of the story for me.Additionally, I found the footnotes extremely difficult to read on the kindle. It kept bringing me out of the story, so after a few, I gave up.All in all, it’s not a terrible book, but nowhere near as good as some of Sophie’s other books. With that said, this will not dissuade me from her future books, and, in fact, I’m looking forward to giving Finding Audrey a try.

The plot was also quite unique hinging on the loss of a huge emerald art deco family engagement ring and Poppy's smart phone at a girlfriend get together at a posh hotel. How can she retrieve the ring without a phone? Lo and behold, she finds a phone tossed into the hotel trash. The phone becomes the magical object usually found in most fairy tales, causing both the actions and transformations of those connected to it. It reveals, truthfully communicates, and allows intervention at the most crucial moments. Without it the people involved would continue with their lives and facades.

Brief essays by Neil MacGregor, director of London's National Gallery, and Erika Langmuir Obe, a noted art historian, elaborate the following notion, from the book's introduction: "The greatest artists, in representing the life of Christ, did something even more difficult: they explored the fundamental experiences of every human life. This is no run-of-the-mill coffee-table book; art historian and critic MacGregor not only offers a rich feast for the eyes through lavish illustrations, but also shows how art reflects the church's development over the last two millennia. MacGregor traces through art, for example, the church's shift in attention from the Adoration of Christ to his birth, noting that the observance of Epiphany gradually became less important than the celebration of Christmas. MacGregor ascribes this change largely to St. Francis of Assisi, noting that "the impact of [his] teaching on the art of Europe can hardly be exaggerated." MacGregor documents a related shift away from depictions of Mary swathed in royal garments holding a stiff, miniature adult Jesus, to portrayals of a "vulnerable and helpless baby, dependent on his mother." MacGregor also credits the humble St. Francis with the evolution of images of Jesus as a suffering lamb. Following Franciscan theology, artists after the 13th century abandoned the "triumphant apocalyptic Lamb of Revelation" for the meek, crucified Lamb of God, Jesus the paschal sacrifice. In a compelling epilogue, MacGregor suggests that although the 20th century has seen depictions of Christ replaced with "photographs of real people and real events," the image of the Christ Child remains "universally valid"; even people who do not believe he was Lord are nonetheless moved by representations of the baby Jesus.
