I'm a self-confessed golf junkie. I've read many of the classic texts, tinker with my swing all the time, watch You tube videos and take lessons. I'm 65 and my current handicap index is 8.7. So, not great, but decent. With age I noticed my swing speed had slowed some and I wasn't getting the same distance as even 10 years ago. Maybe there was nothing I could do about it. I read this book and implemented two changes in my back swing. I tilted my head to the trail side before takeaway and kicked my trail knee toward the target as a swing trigger, taking care to brace well and not allow my weight to roll toward the outside of my foot. The first round I played afterward was with a long time friend on a tough course I play with him about once a year. Immediately I noticed my drives were going 20-25 yards longer than I had been producing of late. Meaning 225 instead of 200. Two days later I played with my golf league teammates on our home course. The same phenomenon occurred. And some of the drives were really long. 245 yards on a couple of occasions. I became a believer. Buy this book. Thank you, Brandel.
This was wonderful instruction. Having read many of the books highlighted by Chamblee myself, he broke down all the essential moves from the greats of the past and condensed them into a few fundamentals that one could reasonably hope to learn. Isn't that all that can be hoped for in a golf instructional? So what are the fundamentals? Strong grip, wide stance, stand tall to the ball and play it close to the body(no reaching...let the arms hang naturally). Kick in that right knee to trigger the swing. Take it back low and LET your wrists cock late unconsciously. Keep the weight on your right inside heel...don't sway....but forget the nonsense of keeping your right knee bent during the backswing. Also don't try and restrict your hips from turning freely on the backswing. Let em go but remember to keep the weight from going to the outside of your right foot on the way back. The transition and downswing are also explained in depth but the most compelling instruction deals with the setup and backswing fundamentals.So did this book actually help me. Yes. Especially my setup. I was standing too far from the ball. Also forgetting about keeping that damn flex in the right knee is very beneficial. By standing closer to the ball and widening my stance a smidge this stopped my sway, my big problem. My swing speed jumped immediately. The thing that was a little hard for me to grasp was that when I stood closer, I wanted to naturally increase my forward bend. Which increased the hinge between my hands and the club at address. Standing tall to the ball was key for me to be able to adopt a stance that was closer to the ball. It was a panacea for tanking the club inside too early and also for the aforementioned dreaded sway. Lastly, practicing the knee kick on every single shot brought rhythm to my swing that has now led to consistent strike. Although this is not a short game instructional, this knee kick has transformed my short game. TRANSFORMED. I use the knee kick for every shot now but my god, such a small nuance that I've never seen taught is a revelation. I can chip now. I can pitch now. There is no fear with the kick because everything is now in rhythm. The funny thing is, it's not taught. I have all the Pelz' books. No mention, but after learning this I've watched Pelz himself on YouTube and guess who has a very pronounced knee kick? Pelz himself. Hopefully Brandel highlights this in his new short game book, which is apparently in the works.
Amazing book. I read the book Friday night, played Saturday and tied my personal best (which occurred ten years ago!). Thank you Brandel. Not only did the information in this book allow me to play a great round of golf, but it was also effortless. It was truly the most enjoyable round of golf that I've ever played. I've spent hundreds of dollars on golf lessons in which the modern golf swing was espoused, only to feel restricted and uncomfortable during the swing. Brandel has certainly filled a niche with simply offering information and insight about the commonalities of some of the great golfers/swings in the history of golf. Rather than pondering positions, Brandel posits that flow, rhythm, and individuality are of prime importance. The modern swing certainly seems logical and theoretically cogent, unfortunately, it simply didn't work for me. The book discusses some of the reasons for this. This book has now joined John Jacobs' "Practical Golf" and Jack Nicklaus' "Golf My Way" as my favorite golf books of all time. As an aside, I now believe that I can offer my children the basics of the golf swing and let them have fun in figuring out the rest for themselves.
I like this book. I especially like it because Chamblee reminds us that we do not have to swing like the young folks on tour. Its OK to lift your left heal in the backswing and it's OK if your left arm is not completely straight on the backswing. I really like Harry Vardon who had a bend in the left arm. Some people say having a bend in the left arm actually adds another lever which may add to your power and the old school method is also easier on the body. I hit longer and straight using the Vardon method than any other way. And my back is not sore the next day. Chamblee talks alot about Alex Morrison too which I like as I don't think most people are aware of Morrison's influence on golf. Overall its a good book and worth reading. I would also recommend reading Harry Vardons book "The Complete Golfer".
This is a very thorough and brutally honest book that proves that "modern" day golf instruction has people playing their worst golf ever. Have you noticed the amount of golf related injuries you see on tour and with amateurs has vastly increased over the years?? You never saw that back in the good ole days and I think this book proves why. I was taught at a young age how to swing the "modern" way and it has taken me almost 15 years to get that out of my system. There are so many teachers that try to make you swing in a mold of a tour player and try their hardest to get rid of your small idiosyncrasies of your swing that make your swing unique. There is a reason for those idiosyncrasies and it's because everyone's brain processes differently. This book proves the difference between idiosyncrasies and fundamentals better than any instructional book or DVD on the market and I would highly recommend it!!!

This book is a typical story-line based on title. A late-night, can't sleep curiosity read for me as I had heard about this before.
Overall this was a good story. I found it a bit flawed in some places but the story had me totally ensnared.
Excellent book. It makes it easier to use it in my work with clients compared to other books of its kind. Highly recommend this book.

She is very high needs, she is very stubborn and extremely intelligent. Add her constantly not feeling well from ear infections and eventually a perforated ear drum from tube malfunction, she was just rotten. A few months ago we were headed down an awful road. Tantrums every night, timeouts, me frustrated and angry and feeling like I've been through a war every night after she finally went to sleep. I cried everyday, I loved her but nothing was working, I didn't want to be THAT parent that broke her spirit but she wasn't listening to anything I said, she was getting violent, throwing things, hitting, just all around angry. I started reading this book out of sheer desperation, I was lost and felt completely alone and the ultimate failure. In the few weeks I've started the practices in this book, both Lise and I have done a 180. The tantrums are few and far between, and when they are there, they are short and very manageable. Lise has become affectionate with both her daddy and I. She freely gives kisses and hugs when before she refused any affection. She listens to what I say, she has started playing by herself and not demanding my attention 24/7. It's crazy and wonderful, I understand her feelings better and she's getting better at expressing whats going on and even more, handling her emotions and working through them herself. I just can't say enough, time outs, spanking all that is completely gone in our house. Even the word NO is very rarely used. Lise has started understanding and respecting our limits with little to no toddler stubbornness. She wants to make us happy and I can literally see the confidence building in her. Things aren't perfect, but they are absolutely better.At first reading this book, I was like um, no, there is no way that this could work. My wild child will walk all over me when I start this so called "love" parenting. But as I mentioned, I was desperate. I didn't want to spank her, I didn't want to drag her kicking and screaming to timeout, I didn't want to isolate her or be constantly telling her no she can't do that, no she can't do this, no, no, no. I knew deep down what I was doing wasn't right regardless of what family members suggested based on their experiences. They told me to come down hard on her now or she will only get worse. I was angry, she was angry, we both had no idea what to expect from each other that day, so we both went into the day guarded and short tempered. I knew I loved her dearly, and I tried my best to try the old school parenting practices with her but it was only making her worse. Yes, she listened most of the time based on threats when we were out in public or at someones house, but I now know that was only because I was humiliating her and would've done it further by spanking her or forcing timeout in front of people she simply wanted to interact with. I know what you are thinking, she is only 2, 2 year olds don't think on that level, but mine does. I can't speak for yours. Once I'd bring her home, the "old school" practices would break down, and I would be forced to yell, time out, and spank. Tantrums would be hours long, kicking, screaming (screaming on both of our parts) and hitting. The child lived in time out. It simply wasn't working. I was desperate for any alternative, and i thought, well, she is already unmanageable, what more could this do...So I started doing little things as I read them in the book. Before I was even done, I saw changes in her. Dramatic changes. I'm currently on my second round reading it. She wants to listen to us, yes she is a toddler, but often with a simple compromise, or a promise (that is ALWAYS kept on my part) to come back when time allows for whatever activity she is involved in, we can get through just about anything without screaming, or acting like a wild child. We understand each other so much better, we talk, we laugh, we have a blast together...I look forward to continuing this peaceful approach for the rest of her life. I'm sure there will be breakdowns, yelling, but I'm confident that we can work through just about anything together.

This book is eveything I ever hoped for. I grew up in a household where I was constantly yelled at for discipline. As a child, I early on started yelling back at my parents and always hated it, wanting to stop and not knowing how. Then as a parent I saw myself yelling at my daughter, not knowing what to do. I texted a friend asking for a good recommendation on a parenting book and she immediately recommended this one. From there my life has completely changed. Within months I was able to go from yelling multiple times a day to yelling maybe once a month (and forgiving myself for the slip-ups!). I love parenting. I'm constantly connecting with my daughter and really seeing the joys of raising a child. I went from dreading parenting to enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. My daughter (at 2) can now begin to solve her own problems with gentle guidance. She pinpoints her emotions and is empathetic when I feel sad or frustrated as well. What I adore is that the book is based on studies, not just the author's opinion. As I studied Human Development in college, this really appeals to my science-minded mentality. I am so thankful I was recommended this book when my daughter was still very young. My whole family is more peaceful and happier. I cannot even express in words the difference this book made in loving and caring for my child and in loving myself. I only hope it can help your family as much as it helped mine.

I started reading this about 3 wks ago and have seen dramatic, positive change in my relationship w/ my 6 yr old daughter. This helped me identify where I could be better as a parent as far as controlling my own emotions, and how to help her work through her emotions in a positive way. I liked that it wasn't just conceptual, but gave very clear actions that I could implement. Really great for overcoming power struggles and control issues.
My book was defective. And I read not even half of it- it was so boring, repetitive, and basically states that our children’s “bad†behavior is ok. It’s not ok- although I do agree on showing them more love and compassion since they are still developing. Another thing they mention is how we are facing our issues with our past childhood- not everyone had a damaging childhood so I don’t know why they talk so much about it. I was really looking forward to this book but I couldn’t get myself to read anymore.

I bought this book because it is required for a class. I've taken other statistic and research method courses, so I already had some background. However, this book does a decent job at explaining and giving plenty of examples. The issues I have with the book is that there are some mathematical errors, they do not always explain where the values are coming from, and there are some examples that do not have an explanation of how to interpret the results. Some of the examples are kind of self-explanatory, so those ones do not cause an issue. Or at least, I think they are self-explanatory. Again, I have taken other courses for statistics and research methods. In regards to shipping, the book arrived earlier than expected, which was nice, and it was packaged in a box to make it snug. There was no visible damage to the book upon arrival.
Only in chapter 2 and there are a lot of typos. The worst part is that there are typos on the homework problems and the solutions in the back, so how am I supposed to if I got the problem right or not?!! This is the second edition of the book, so they should have fixed all of the errors by now. The content of the book is okay though.
Arrived with a broken binding that I had to fix myself, but other than that it is in good condition.

Love this book
Although at first look this book may seem overwhelming with lots of mathematical interpretations of quality, however, if you give the book a chance you will realize this book is in fact very basic and extremely easy to follow. Statistics may be intimidating to a person of any profession (engineer, general business or even managers) but the book really takes you from step one and gives a broad understanding of quality. The author of this book tries to offer the mathematical tools to people to improve their understanding of quality. The book also does a fabulous job of talking you through the history of quality(the gurus of quality and their systems) to the new quality processes, such as ISO and Six Sigma. Once I completed this book I understand the reasoning for having the mathematics as such a large part. How can one analyze quality without a statistical background? This book not only breaks things down very simply for a person but also gives a full understanding as to why each topic covered is essential to learning proper quality management. I truly hope to pursue a career in quality after reading this textbook. It takes very difficult topics to grasp (which are essential to todays business world) and makes the information understandable and accessible to a beginner as well as a great refresher.

Since my father fought in Korea I`m always excited to find a book about the "Korean Conflict." Unfortunately this book has a number of problems that need to be fixed. It needs to be edited to correct the numerous fragmented and run-on sentences along with misspellings that to me made the book choppy and hard to read. That and the overuse of the words "hell fire" to describe events. The flow did improve in the second half of the book, but still was very disjointed. I have utmost respect for all our veterans, just wish this book told their story better.
I found the book an excellent read for those wishing to know more about the Korean war in 1951. The book provides the reader with history lessons on what our soldiers were up against by the documentation as well as a personal account of some of the harsh conditions faced. A ground level view of a tough campaign.
I served in Korea. There wasn't anything not to like, told as it was.
I gave this book 5 stars because in my opinion, there was NOTHING to dislike about it. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading 1st hand accounts of war experiences.
This book was a very good read. I only wish it was a little longer and went into greater detail.

i have colored Jade Summers books before so was not surprised by the back of each page being black. I would give the content a five star, but after doing the first page and turned to the next one it was covered with black smudges that transferred from the back of the one I had just done. The following page was the same. Now I have to put a page of computer paper on both the front and back of each page because I noticed my just completed one was getting black smudges also. To boot even the underneath of the sleeve of my shirt was grey where I had rested my arm on the open black page. This hasn't happened previously.
I have become a mandala junkie when it comes to coloring so I had to combine my 2 passions..flowers and mandalas..I can't recommend this book enough!!! You will love it, guaranteed!
