Must read for every man out there.My upbringing did not do me a favour. This opened my eyes to see the world completely different and my role I have to play in it. I am much more comfortable with myself and it improved every area in my life.Biggest influence in the shortest time ever in my marriage. Best part is that I did not tell my wife to behave differently. The improvement in my marriage happened naturally.We did not go to counselling like before, we did not try to improve our communication, we did not spend more time together, I did not buy more gifts, I did not do more chores in the house. I had to become a Man.Still some hard and dirty work to do on myself. But WOW......I see the results that I love.
My biggest complaint with the book that drove me nuts the entire time was the lack of evidence based arguments. Tomasi would state that some study showed x, but then it is not referenced and the study is barely described. I found maybe one or two points in the book where he actually did do this. But a book like this should have at least 50-100 sources to back up these claims. He used his credentials of an undergraduate degree, which is essentially useless, in lieu of having to do that. He also uses buzzwords to make it sound more scientific, but he scarified flow and clarity in doing so. Really unnecessary and made him sound like a novice writer. There were also a number of spelling errors and editing issues that needed to be addressed before this saw the light of day.I agree with the content because I've read many other books in the domain of evolutionary biology, so Tomasi isn't entirely wrong in the content. Which is good. However, if you want to be legitimate and make the sort of claims you are making, you need to back them up with solid science. And show where those references are from. This was an attempt by a blogger, who lacked formal training in writing and research, to sound legitimate. Ironically, this is exactly what feminists do, they make claims that support some confounded idea without any evidence based arguments to back it up. If you want to be better than them, you need to improve on your writing and research. I would recommend other books before this one or I would supplement this book with say 'The Red Queen: Sex and Evolution' or 'Mating Mind'. This isn't terrible and could be a nice entry point for further study, but further study is absolutely necessary.
I’m 53. I wish this book had been available to me as a young man starting out 30 plus years ago. So many of the pitfalls of dating and relationships could have been avoided. I have to warn prospective readers of one thing: you will never see the world in the same way again. This can be massively uncomfortable at times, particularly in a marriage. That being said, the discomfort is well worth it. On to books 2 and 3. Thanks, Rollo.
I was recommended this book from a friend not out of necessity but because he knew I would actually have an open mind when reading it. Over the course of the last year I've read over 20 books and this is my favorite to date.Some theories that Rollo suggests may cause shock and even piss you off and cause you to stop reading it altogether. But I feel it is a must read for any man trying to improve himself both personally and professionally.I will say be careful about who you speak to the theories of this book with. Not everyone is ready to be unplugged from the "Matrix" and you might be met with some resistance and may even cause insecurities to come out from those less enlightened to hear what you have to say.
I purchased this book because I had received many recommendations, claiming that this book is offering invaluable, often overlooked, and not understood insight into relationships. However, this philosophy is nothing new. It is the same red-pill, incel, etc. nonsense which claims to have some secret, innovative, genius-level knowledge about the biological instincts of women, despite the frequent inability of the author to spell words correctly and use proper grammar.Perhaps this is helpful for men who hate women, and thus feel that all women are out to get them and make the "nice guys" care for the children of the females' previous "alpha" partners, claiming women seek men purely for their financial value. But, for someone seeking genuine relationship advice that is not based on some pseudo-scientific, crackpot, paleolithic conception of human relationships, you should probably look elsewhere.

When "On the media" interviewed the author I paused the podcast about half-way through and ordered the book--and even ordered it in print because I knew I wanted to be able to share it--something we can't do effectively with licensed content (eformat) As a librarian who is equal parts copyright geek and open access advocate this reads almost like a thriller. What never gets enough attention is the context of the American Enlightenment and its role, along that of James Madison, in the writing of Constitution and Bill of Rights but it was delightful to see the parallels between the brilliant, intense and socially awkward Webster and Swartz. I'm not sure if that was intentional or that a certain personality type is more likely to be a change-agent. If you're a copyright geek and an open access fan this might not contain a lot of new material but it's a great read. If you're only familiar with one part of the equation or, neither, it's a great read and a great introduction.
The compelling story of Aaron Swartz--the hacktivist who wanted to make public documents freely available as they should be. Justin is a great author who provides colorful detail regarding the circumstances of Aaron's death while being targeted by the US Government.
Inspired me to do things for my community, and i now have a heck-of-a-lot of appreciation for public libraries. Swartz is a hero.

However, it was not until I read The Idealist that I fully understood the historical context that framed and influenced Swartz and his journey, nor that I fully grasped that even now, nearly three years to the day after his death, we as a country are no closer to addressing the many questions and institutional deficiencies that contributed to it.Brilliantly written and expertly researched, The Idealist is more than a biography, and more than a history. I absolutely loved this book! It is really adorable and after reading just this one from the series I am convinced that the “Mummy nature Series†is fantastic to say the least.The illustrations are very suitable for a children’s book. All faces have smiles, a lot of colors are used and each object of insect is very clearly portrayed. It is definitely a great way to attract the little one’s interest and can even raise one’s spirit. I was in a very good mood while reading it. The story is told in verse and it even has its own melody. I could easily see this in a song.These particular drawings make the story understandable and appealing telling a bee’s story to a child who’s afraid of being stung is quite challenging, but the author has done it in a very enjoyable way.What’s more important is that it is a very educative book as well. For example, there are lessons at the end in regards to different kind of flowers and kids are encouraged to find them in the story. It is both interactive and helpful.As with most books I receive, I have a copy in a kindle format, so I can only state my opinion in regards to the electronic version. However, I do advise to purchase the paperbacks of all the books in the series! I can tell you I am adding this to the list of titles for my future child, whenever he or he may decide to come :) 5 amazing bees and flowers for this lovely book!

The author suggests this book is for ages 2 to 6 and P to 2.The drawings are well done and colorful which will attract the little ones in your life. I also like the fact that the book rhymes.It explains that bees like bright flowers and it is educational in that it also tells how pollen is spread to other flowers or trees.This is part of the Mummy Nature Series collection...Highly recommended for the bright drawings, the rhyming and also the nature aspect of the importance of bees.
Bees Like Flowers is precious. Each of the Mummy Nature books is very child-friendly. The colors are bright, and that alone would keep a child’s interest. This little book gives a good child-perfect explanation of how honey is made and what happens in a beehive. I love the little bees’ face. It makes them seem friendly. The choice of flowers she used were some of my favorites, the sunflower especially.Ms. Bielawski has once again created a colorful and fun way to teach your little ones about nature. The Mummy Nature books will keep a child’s interest by the rhythm and beautiful colors. I would recommend these to anyone who has little children in their families.
A fun story with great illustrations. It tells the story of bees and flowers in a way children will enjoy and learn from. Using rhymes to peak interest along with illustrations of beautiful flowers kids should want to read it.By telling a little about nature and the ways bees are involved it might help some small ones and their fear of bees. My favorite part was the ending which I can imagine kids will be shouting out loud as they read along with you after the first time.Overall a good read, a teaching story and great illustrations.
This book is a creative and fun way to teach children a little bit about nature while they can enjoy the rhymes and the pictures. Bees are such important, hard-working little creatures and yet they often get a bad rap because of their stingers. So this sweet little book will take some of the "sting" out of their story and teach children about the value of bees. Very nice book.
I found this to be a very fascinating, fun yet educational ebook for this age level with brilliantly colored illustrations. The one thing, though you might think about increasing the font size to make it easier on anyone's eyes as I even had to look at this print from a very close view in order to be able to read the words in this ebook. This is a wonderful book to introduce your young one to bees. I was very please to see they got things so right. Most cartoons and books paint all worker bees as males. This one talks about the jobs of bees and the hive and the benefit of them to both mankind and plants. Wonderful book.

I bought two of these for college boys during Easter. Instead of traditional baskets I made Ramen Noodle baskets. They were a big hit! I used a "basket" that could be used for storage, added a lot of Ramen Noodles, this book, a chocolate bunny, of course, and a very special doll. (It is a D**mit doll. Because, college is stressful.)

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my brother, who tends to eat little else but Ramen Noodles. To my surprise and delight, he ended up using quite a bit. I didn't want to spend the $800 for the SHRM online material, so a friend recommended this book and I'm glad I took his advice. I used this book exclusively for studying for my SPHR exam and passed on the first try! Like some of the other reviewers said, it's a little wordy and can be confusing because information is repeated throughout the book, but if you're able to get past that and focus on the pertinent iformation, this is a great study guide because not only does it provide all the information that's in the SHRM material, but it goes further by providinig background information and "real life" stories and case studies to help with your comprehension of the material. The online tests and flash cards are also great tools.The only negative that I have with the book is that it doesn't prepare you for the "type" of questions on the exam which are scenario based and highly subjective. To prepare for these typ of questions, I would recommend getting a study guide that has "test prep" questions with an explanation of the answers. I got one for $9.99 on Amazon, and it did an amazing job with preparing me with how to answer these type of questions.
I purchased this book 4 years ago and (finally) sat on getting my PHR in 2018. I went back and fourth on if I wanted certification, thus the long weight. When I finally decided to take my PHR, I gave myself 45 days to study and this book was the key. Despite the HRCI changing their exams in Aug. 2018, the contents of this book are still highly relevant. I took and passed my PHR on first try. I credit my success to this book as I consider this book to the PHR/SPHR bible.Questions from the PHR exams were written very similarly to the test questions from the book. Everything you need to know for the PHR is referenced here. I would strongly recommend this book for those interested in taking the PHR/SPHR.I do wish the test question in the book had more variety. The PHR has scenario based, fill in the blank, matching and multiple choice. Most of the questions were multiple choice.
Read this book twice in 2 months while taking mock test and using flaschcards and passed my PHR first time around!

love the book, it is kinda older, but lots of examples and easy to read. Web-support they offering consist of small downloadable program with flash cards, glossary and exam. Cant print anything, but glossary exportable. Kindle has digital book, but otherwise I wasn't able to open program neither on ipad not android phone, only pc supported.2/20/16 - I didn't mention, I was getting ready for SHRM-CP using my PHR books and classes notes. I have passed both. This book would very useful for PHR prep and knowledge portion of SHRM-CP. It is as good as SHRM learning system because it covers same knowledge area
Used this book to study for the PHR exam. Passed on my first time. This book contains all you need to know for the exam. I found the practice questions in Bogardus more difficult than the exam. I also purchased the HRCI practice exams and found those to be most like the questions on my exam. My study plan: Read through all of Bogardus and did all the practice exams. Then took the first HRCI exam. Looked at areas I was weak on, and studied those areas in Bogardus. Took another HRCI practice exam. Re-reviewed Bogardus in areas I was weak. Took final HRCI practice exam. Took the real exam. I didn't buy any of the expensive modules or any other study books. I found all the information I needed was in this book. Good luck!
The short answer is NO! So I decided, well in to my long running HR career take the SPHR EXAM. I registered late for the test allowing only 2 months time of study, while working full-time and caring for my children. So, it's a lot of material, true. It's also in a format that is easy to understand and apply to your own experiences. You won't get your SPHR certification just by memorizing the book, and all the laws, etc (although you do have to store relevant information in your head). You will pass the test by studying the book, drawing from your HR career experiences and knowing how to apply the laws to a problem/situation. I reviewed a lot of options and I could have paid to take a class for 8weeks, bought a study program from SHRM for $800. and many other expensive programs. I chose this book and self-study as my plan of attack. I did purchase some online quizzes as well to self-test. I read each chapter; highlighted relevant parts, and took every chapter test (use piece of paper so you can retake it over and over) I was still nervous when I took the exam in June, 2013. But wow what a feeling when at the end of the exam the screen flashes up with a CONGRATULATIONS. All that said, I am considering not renewing my SPHR through HRCI. Since SHRM jumped on the certification bandwagon and is now offering their own separate certification we have no singular entity who verifies we are the best in our profession. . And that's a shame. The SPHR certification is now watered down.I do still have my book and do refer to it from time to time. Whether you take the exam or not, this book is a great resource for beginners and experienced alike. Have fun. You got this.
