Since my father fought in Korea I`m always excited to find a book about the "Korean Conflict." Unfortunately this book has a number of problems that need to be fixed. It needs to be edited to correct the numerous fragmented and run-on sentences along with misspellings that to me made the book choppy and hard to read. That and the overuse of the words "hell fire" to describe events. The flow did improve in the second half of the book, but still was very disjointed. I have utmost respect for all our veterans, just wish this book told their story better.
I found the book an excellent read for those wishing to know more about the Korean war in 1951. The book provides the reader with history lessons on what our soldiers were up against by the documentation as well as a personal account of some of the harsh conditions faced. A ground level view of a tough campaign.
I served in Korea. There wasn't anything not to like, told as it was.
I gave this book 5 stars because in my opinion, there was NOTHING to dislike about it. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading 1st hand accounts of war experiences.
This book was a very good read. I only wish it was a little longer and went into greater detail.

i have colored Jade Summers books before so was not surprised by the back of each page being black. I would give the content a five star, but after doing the first page and turned to the next one it was covered with black smudges that transferred from the back of the one I had just done. The following page was the same. Now I have to put a page of computer paper on both the front and back of each page because I noticed my just completed one was getting black smudges also. To boot even the underneath of the sleeve of my shirt was grey where I had rested my arm on the open black page. This hasn't happened previously.
I have become a mandala junkie when it comes to coloring so I had to combine my 2 passions..flowers and mandalas..I can't recommend this book enough!!! You will love it, guaranteed!

In a world where the intellectual class nearly uniformly despises Donald Trump, the celebrated historian Victor Davis Hanson has arrived to offer a clear-eyed evaluation of how Trump became President, and what that may mean for the immediate future. This is not a propagandistic defense of Trump, but an analysis of his campaign and his Presidency so far, viewed from atop the shifting sands of America’s political landscape. I doubt if this book will make Hanson popular with liberals. Nor will it make him popular with the #NeverTrumpers, but I’m also pretty sure he’s left them behind already, for the same reasons that voters left them behind—all of which Hanson outlines in this book.The first part of the book covers the split of America into the coastal elites, who have the power and the money, and the despised denizens of flyover country, who have neither power nor money. This is fairly well-trodden ground, most recently (with variations) by Tucker Carlson in "Ship of Fools." Trump’s candidacy was initially treated as a joke (I literally laughed when I heard it, myself), but the elites put up the very worst candidate possible, both in the abstract and for the immediate purpose, and Trump showed the deplorables he was willing and able to fight for them (whether that has come to pass is irrelevant for the question of his election, of course). This was a priceless experience.. I wished the book didn't end. It was really refreshing to see things from Sachin's perspective. The only time I saw him live in a stadium finds a mention in his book as well, which was a pleasant surprise! His child like enthusiasm for the game was plain to see on that day and throughout his career. This same enthusiasm is reflected right through the book as well. I enjoyed all of the anecdotes shared, most of which weren't public knowledge. This is a must read for a Sachin fan. Even if you're not a fan of him or the game, it's still worth picking up to get an idea of literally the blood, sweat and tears that made up a legendary career. Life really begins now for you sir, wish you all the best!
It is actually pretty ordinary . I did not get anything substantially new that I have not read elsewhere, which is not saying much anyway. There are anecdotes right through the book . Some of which I enjoyed .Some of his early days in 80s made a good reading . Two things that I became more aware of wereHe got injured badly right through his career and that bothered him and he struggled with it . Rather unfortunate or may be he was constantly pushing his body.and the second one was he really loved and played for his personal records - centuries , # of tests ..there is a constant theme about these numbers in the entire book . Not to say he was selfish etc ….which he was not , but I just did not think he cared for his personal records as much.That infamous declaration by Rahul which left him stranded @194 is another example. Rahul should not have declared (I did not know that Rahul delayed declaration in sydney test few months ago which may have robbed us of our first series win in aus) but Sachin was livid even after 24 hours !!! when Rahul came over to talk to him . SRT just could not let it go that Rahul tried to send a tough message to Pak that India means business (However bad that call was from Rahul). I just found that strange. Sachin loves his 100s and 200s.For some one with whom he has scored maximum runs with , lack of warmth towards Rahul is conspicuous . He has good words for his knocks but nothing more . There is lot of warmth towards Anil, Sourav, Yuvi, Bhajji, Viru etc. Probably Rahul himself was reserved .He talks about the entire 2011 Eng series and not a word about Rahul’s 3 centuries !!! - may be I am reading too much. I maybe biased because I was surprised by Rahul’s interview by Cricinfo following the release of this book and this incident . Rahul was unusually belligerent when asked if he was looking forward to read the book - he said something like “I am not looking forward to these aspects but I will look to his views on batting skills and how he prepared etcâ€â€¦.Coming to cricket itself I was surprised as to how so many of his shots were played even before ball was delivered. It was surprising to learn the amount of pre-meditation and out-smarting that goes on !!.This guy lived , breathed cricket - an ultimate Cricket Huccha.
The book starts very well and it's refreshing to learn about some early days of one of the best sportsmen universally. However, the books becomes monotonous over the next few chapters with the theme pretty much revolving around individual matches and tours and their scorelines. There isn't much buildup to stories in any of the chapters so the lessons (if that was the intent) didn't come across strong and interesting.The book does get better towards the end dealing with the final few years of his career. There are fewer stats and more story and depth around here. It was good to see some explanation from the man about his mental state and his journey towards "the decision". You do feel sad once the book is over so it kind of scores some points there.I would definitely recommend this to all followers of cricket. Especially Tendulkar critics should give this one a chance. You may just become a little less harsh towards the man.
the book arrived in good condition. its brand new and the print quality is good.i just don't like the way its written.. Sachin and the writers steered away from some highlighting events of his lifetime - there was nothing on vinod kambli and his friendship...there was nothing on the episodes of match fixing involving team members... its just tells us the match summaries of sachins matches...his friendship with NRIs...his injuries and his dedication to the sport...expected much much better writing and content in this book...if you really want to read it - borrow it and return it..
As a Die hard Sachin fan, I had expected a lot from this book. There are a lot of things which met with the expectations and some which did not.Now - Sachin has been in the media and public limelight since his early career and a lot has been said, written and broadcast with regards to him. Most of what this book does is go through all of the memorable moments all over again and brings up a lot of nostalgia, but does not give us a lot of information about Sachin as a person and his views. What me as a reader expected was a more behind the scenes information which is lacking the expectations which I had.Some things which I was hoping for in the book:- Relationships with captains, senior members such Azhar, Ganguly, Dhoni.- Some more details about friendship with people like VInod Kambli, Manjrekar and other Mumbai teammates- Controversies such as Monkeygate, ball tampering, run out at Eden Gardens against Pakistan- Match fixing and behind the scenes conversations and discussions. Even if Sachin was not involved or linked to anything, there would have been discussions in dressing room, practice sessions, etc.- Relationships with Coaches, BCCI, selectors, etc.- Plans for the future, politics, etc.This book gives us an insight into Sachin as a person and his remarkable journey so far. I am just hoping there is a sequel to this book which would give us the information which so many of us were hoping for and still waiting.
